About the Program

Students working towards the Songwriting and Rap Production Certificate typcially intend to create professional recordings in a home studio environment, although some individuals may choose to continue their studies by entering the Audio Engineering AAS degree program.

Students in this program will learn about all aspects of music production, focusing on the fundamentals of analog and digital audio and span live music reinforcement, digital audio recording, critique and analysis of recorded music, and the mixing and mastering process as it applies to creating and record music in a home studio.

Students will be introduced to fundamental music terminology and analysis of instrumentation, form, and production techniques as they apply to popular musical genres. Students will work in state-of-the-art facilities, including a fully outfitted recording studio, a state of the art production suite and a Pro Tools computer lab.  Through the creation of original recordings students will learn professional techniques that can be applied to any recording environment; from laptops to home studios to high end recording studios.
